The Patras Drone Academy participated in FEST UP 2026 at the University of Patras, an event that brought together technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and young people. For our academy, this participation was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the university community and highlight the possibilities offered today by the world of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).
Drones are more than just aerial cameras.
When we hear the word “drone,” most of us think of impressive photos and videos taken from above. In reality, however, drone technology has evolved significantly and is now used in many professional fields. From photogrammetry and 3D mappingto infrastructure inspections, thermography, precision agriculture, aerial spraying, and search and rescue, drones are constantly opening up new possibilities. This is precisely the aspect of the technology we want more young people to learn about.

Our participation in FEST UP 2026 was particularly significant, as we believe that education must keep pace with technological advancements. Today’s students and young professionals will be called upon to work in an environment where new technologies will play an increasingly important role. Drones are already a useful tool for engineers, surveyors, technicians, agronomists, and professionals in many other fields. Becoming familiar with this technology can provide new knowledge, practical skills, and additional career options.
Meaningful education.
At Patras Drone Academy, our goal is not simply to help you obtain a drone pilot certificate. We believe that a properly trained pilot must be familiar with the regulations, understand the capabilities and limitations of their equipment, and, above all, be able to fly safely and confidently. For this reason, our school offers training in the Open Category (A1/A3 and A2), as well as in the Special Category (STS-01 and STS-02). We place particular emphasis on one-on-one flight training, where each student has the opportunity to practice under the personal guidance of their instructor. At the same time, we focus on specialized professional applications and operational flight planning, supporting the growth of the drone industry in Greece.
The future of drones begins with knowledge.
Technology is constantly evolving. New systems, new applications, and new professional needs create an environment full of possibilities. However, no matter how advanced the equipment may be, the human factor remains crucial. Proper training, responsibility, and continuous development are the elements that make the difference. Patras Drone Academy continues to invest in knowledge and quality training, with the goal of preparing pilots who can meet the industry’s current and future demands.
The University of Patras is a major hub of knowledge, research, and innovation, offering young people opportunities to develop their ideas and skills, while events such as FEST UP 2026 strengthen the university community’s connection to technology, entrepreneurship, and the career prospects of the future.
