{"id":11985,"date":"2026-03-04T14:54:05","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T14:54:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/patrasdroneacademy.eu\/?post_type=product&#038;p=11985"},"modified":"2026-03-04T14:54:05","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T14:54:05","slug":"refresher-course-a1-a3-a2","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/patrasdroneacademy.eu\/en\/product\/refresher-course-a1-a3-a2\/","title":{"rendered":"Refresher Course A1-A3 &#038; A2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019\/947, and specifically Article UAS.OPEN.070, both the validity period of remote pilot competency certificates<\/p>\n<p>in the Open Category and the procedure for their renewal (revalidation) are clearly defined.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><b><strong>Renewal of Remote Pilot Certificates (A1\/A3 &amp; A2)<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019\/947, and specifically Article UAS.OPEN.070, both the validity period of remote pilot competency certificates<\/p>\n<p>in the Open Category and the procedure for their renewal (revalidation) are clearly defined.<\/p>\n<p>Renewal may be completed through attendance of a Refresher Course, which confirms that the remote pilot continues to possess the required theoretical knowledge and competencies.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the refresher training is to ensure that drone operators remain up to date with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Any amendments to applicable legislation<\/li>\n<li>Operational requirements<\/li>\n<li>Technological developments within the UAS sector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Key Points of Article UAS.OPEN.070<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b><strong> Certificate Validity Period<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The online theoretical knowledge certificate (A1\/A3) as well as the A2 remote pilot certificate are valid for five (5) years from the date of issuance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><b><strong> Renewal Before Expiry<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The remote pilot must ensure that renewal is completed before the end of the five-year validity period.<\/p>\n<p>Renewal is achieved through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attendance and successful completion of a Refresher Course covering the theoretical subjects required by the Regulation.<\/li>\n<li>At the end of the course, the pilot completes a knowledge Quiz (not a formal examination).<\/li>\n<li>The course must be provided by a recognized\/accredited training entity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Timely renewal allows the pilot to maintain certification without undergoing the full initial examination process again.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><b><strong> If the Certificate Has Expired<\/strong><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the certificate has already expired, attendance of a Refresher Course alone is not sufficient.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, the pilot must complete a new demonstration of competency, following the same procedure required for the initial certification.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Application to A1\/A3 and A2 Subcategories<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>A2 Certificate Holders:<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0Pilots must renew their certificate before the five-year expiration date in order to avoid full re-examination.<\/li>\n<li><b><strong>If the certificate expires (A1\/A3 or A2):<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0A new examination or demonstration of competency is required, as per the initial certification process.
